wedding photography East Sussex – two London photographers teaming up for Anna and Richard’s 1950s Rock & Roll wedding in Sussex…

Now when Anna’s and Richard’s wedding day has been featured on the fantastic Blueberry wedding blog, I’m pleased to upload their chapter here on my own blog…

A truly exciting atmosphere was filling up the groom’s family home, upon arriving to East Sussex on that special Saturday morning that was to be Richard’s and Anna’s party of a life time. Whole of Richard’s family and close friends where fully engaged with doing all the “last minute stuff” around the house – pompoms where being made as decor for the sweets table, while an online YouTube crash course where being viewed on how to actually make them (!), last chance shopping lists where being written, and the late evening entertainment, the rock band The Optimists was already lifting the roof off in the marquee – doing a sound check for an evening of rocking covers and own material.

Upstairs, Anna and her brides maids where getting ready behind closed doors. Bride and groom where getting ready in the rooms next to one and other – but wasn’t allowed to see each other of course! So me and my colleague sneaked between the rooms with our cameras!

And outside the rain was absolutely pouring down. That perhaps wasn’t equally as exciting for Anna and Richard – but I happen to really like rain in pictures! By a strike of luck however, the sun came out just as the newly-weds walked out at the nearby East Grindstead town hall – and gave them the most beautiful afternoon…

Anna’s and Richard’s day was filled to the brim with their personalities! Think 1950s, think American cookies and icecream parlours – where all the T-birds and Pink Ladies would hang out, and you might land in Anna’s and Richard’s party of a life time…. Anna wore the cutest belted dress in 50s style, and herself and her maid of honour together made the brides maids dresses – they even designed the printed cup cake patterns to go on them! Anna and Richard have a car that they travel in to all sorts of places – ok most people have a car – but this one is a bit special: it’s an old Volkswagen a la vintage-and-hitchhiking-hippies-style, and of course Richard drove it to church! (Ok, Town hall) The car even featured on the invitation cards and on table decorations. The cute pastel- colours so trendy in the 50s, was the colour theme of their day: It went on the homemade pompoms a la 50s cheerleader squad that surrounded the sweet table, it went on the table decorations and on the flowers. It went on the home- made out door lanterns which Richard had made himself all from scratch. It even went on Anna’s nails. Ok enough talking. Now, time to see the images! Here are some favorite shots that I took on the day…

Just so you know, you just witnessed a historical moment. That collection of festival wrist bands have now been replaced by a wrist band from Anna….

Check out Anna’s nails! And you’ll see how perfectly they match her hand bouquet.:)( Bouquet is by Helgaz flowers in East Grindstad)

Anna does it her own way…. she walks down the isle on her own, while Richard is waiting upfront!

I’ve just gotta point this out about Anna’s earrings! She is wearing little Swedish princess cakes on plates as earrings! The Swedish princess cake/torte, is the most classical and traditional cake you can find in Sweden – featuring fresh cream and a cover of marzipan. I think it’s just fab how she managed to find those earrings! You can see the actual cake… or well a version of it… on their sweets- table further down.rock-and-roll-themed-wedding-londonrock-and-roll-themed-wedding-london

  • @LoveYouBlog - Stunning! I love how much personality comes through at this wedding! They look so happy and so COOL! This wedding is an inspiration as the groom reminds me very much of my fiancé. He’s very cool and there may just be some wonderful ideas in here in order to show his personality off.

Wedding photographer Sussex, contemporary and natural photography from South Lodge wedding

Sara and Neil. Such nice people. So glad they’ve found each other. And Milda and I where the lucky ones to capture it all.

For their day, they had choosen South Lodge outside Horsham in West Sussex as a venue. The heavy Neo- Jacobean architechture style and vintage interiors of South Lodge went really well with Sara’s choice of a layered wedding dress and a bird-cage veil – giving that vintage look to their day. And against the traditional Brittish and vintage, they had added lots of personal little touches – for example that super cute cake reflecting on their personalities, the little framed photos to seat their guests and the cute baskets filled with slippers in mutltiude for those late in the evening tired feet!

Here are some favorite shots that I took on their day, starting in Sara’s bridal suite…

We all kind of fell in love with this little sheep. This cutie is what South Lodge have for their guests to hang on the door instead of the “Do-not-disturb-sign”!;)Sara’s necklace worked really well for him, don’t you think?

Neil is very in to golf. But with no golf around, the boyz decided to hit the crocket while waiting for the day to begin….

Check this out! Someone had taken the time to get photos together of all the guests and put them into cute little frames to mark their seats…  a fab idea hey!

Neil loves cats and Sarah loves rabbits.

So this is their pretty neat wedding cake…. vintage-wedding-photographer-london wedding-photographers-sussex wedding-photographer-west-sussex wedding-photographers-sussex vintage-wedding-photographer-london wedding-photographer-west-sussex contemporary-wedding-photographer-sussex
